Let the world revolve,
we all deserve a break at some time.
There is no need to fight it.

What if Atlas shrugged
and the world fell?
Would anyone know?

The universe sings to us
in a language we never learned.

Listen to the music
for one day,
understanding will come.

Peace.

Wow. And I was starting to think I was the only one who thought like this.

Has it occurred to Mr. Gore or any of the publicity hound "action groups" that there is a basic fundamental scientific proof that states for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction? (Thank you Mr. Newton.)

Let's assume for the moment (incorrectly I might add) that "global warming" is what the general population believes it is. (In fact, it is an unproven theory that states greenhouse gases produced by humans are dangerously warming the globe. It may be right, it may be wrong but it is still nothing more than a proposed theory. I make little judgement on this either way.)

Consider this. If we stop burning fossil fuels and instead develop a technically possible solar technology to replace oil and coal, imagine the most absurd case. Let's say we cover the Gobi desert with solar panels. Well, we would certainly burn fewer or possibly no fossil fuels anymore. Also we would be transfering the energy of the sun into electrical energy instead of heat (and other by-products like photosynthysis.) What happens when the desert cools due to lack of heat from the sun? Weather patterns change? The gulf stream moves? The planet cools too fast? Certainly something dramatic would happen to the planet's ecology in this extreme case.

What if we built wind power? We remove energy from the natural wind patterns and change them. We probably even kill birds.

What if we burn our food creating bio fuels? (Opps, I guess we already did that.) If I remember correctly, about 1/3 of the corn grown last year in the US (2008) was used to make ethanol. Aren't there staving children in the world? Didn't food prices for most things go up last year? Corn became more expensive and it is used to feed livestock and chickens to name a few things. Beef, poutry, milk, cheese, bread and even fish went up in price due to the higher costs of producing finished food products.

What if we built hydrogen powered cars that emit nothing but water. Clean as possible. What happens to all that water vapor? Will it change the world? Our atomosphere? Does anyone really know?

My point is, there is no free ride for any fuel source. None! Every joule of energy we remove from the environment has some effect on the environment itself. There is no way around this simple fact. What then becomes the unintended concequences of a new fuel source? Who knows. It's a complex problem for which we have no answer.

Now, I am certainly all for being "cleaner" when possible (certainly more diversified) and especially if it is in the best interests of this country. According to Mr. Pickens, we send approximately $750 billion dollars a year to countries that mostly don't like us very much to buy oil. This does not seem like a smart plan no matter what your opinion on the environment is.

Just for fun, check out www.pickensplan.com to see what he has to say and is proposing. We could power most of our vehicles with natual gas provided right here in the US for many years while we work on better fuel efficency, more diverse technologies and as a by-product "cleaner" fuels. It's a thought. It's good for us, bad for countries that depend on oil money to continue buying up America or funding terrorist to harm us.

The main goal which seems utterly more dire to me then the theory of global warming, is to reduce our dependancy on other countries for powering this country while we work on the longer term plan to reduce greenhouse gases or at least come up with a newer, more renewable fuel source.

Being less wasteful certainly in any area is a good idea. Trashing our country and others with waste products is destroying our home. The question that always has to be asked is, what will the consequences be if we do this or that? Why is that question never asked?

Good work Mr. Gore! You just wasted an oscar and a Nobel prize to keep your name in circulation while scaring the public into a frenzy; not to mention spuring our government to pay farmers to plant less soy and wheat so they can grow more corn to turn into ethanol while destroying our clean water sources. In the process, people go hungry, food becomes more expensive and clean water gets harder and harder to find.

Preach on sister Kat!

Keep questioning authorities! Be a skeptic. Keep an open mind. Think for yourself!

This web site is great. I must share a quote from one of the articles.
"Being happy is really a choice we make. The secret of Happiness is simple, very simple - what is it?

You decide if you want to be happy! "
